Johanna Seppänen

Johanna Seppänen, PhD, Director, Findata. Works as the Director of the newly founded Finnish Social and Health Data Permit Authority Findata with the aim to institute the new authority and its functions.

Background:

Johanna Seppänen has previous positions as Head of statistics at Statistics Finland Research services, Head of statistics and health economics at FIOH, Reseacher at THL, Kela Research department and Finnish Cancer Registry, and as Biostatistician in pharmaceutical industry. Earlier Seppänen has also worked as a Lecturer at Jyväskylä University.

Johanna Seppänen has PhD degree in Biometrics from University of Helsinki, Faculty of Medicine. She is an experienced head with track record of leading and developing public sector research infrastructures. Seppänen is skilled in register-based research, statistical methods and biostatistics, data management and lecturing. She has also expertise in leadership, data protection and research ethical issues.

Johanna Seppänen has 15 peer reviewed articles in international journals and 11 other publications. She is a member of National Committee on Medical Research Ethics.
