Sharing Health Data – across borders and beyond
The European Health Data Space (EHDS) is moving from regulation to implementation. With the framework in place, attention is now turning to how European requirements will be translated into common rules and practical solutions, and what this will mean for countries preparing to implement them.
This session explores the road ahead for health data sharing in Europe, from the development of implementing acts through the EU comitology process to the practical challenges of making health data interoperable and usable across borders. We will look at both primary use, including semantic interoperability and the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format, and secondary use of health data for research, innovation and policymaking. Drawing on European and Nordic perspectives, including experiences from TEHDAS2 and VALO, the session will explore how regulation, standards, governance and collaboration can come together to make the ambitions of EHDS work in practice.
