Schirin Lucie Richter
Schirin Lucie Richter is Co-Founder and Senior Partner of Future Medical Systems, a transatlantic health innovation consultancy. A former Design Researcher and Innovation Program Leader at IDEO, she has spent twenty years partnering with organizations across healthcare and life sciences — including Stanford School of Medicine, Fortune 500 MedTech and pharmaceutical companies, and European health institutions — to lead product and service innovation, redesign care models and support organisational transformation. She served as Innovation Coach at the Stanford CERC High Value Health Care Incubator (2021–2023) and as National Guest Lecturer at Stanford School of Medicine (2013–2022). She is actively involved in venture building across the European health innovation ecosystem, including EIT Health, Life Science Factory, and Fraunhofer AHEAD. She is co-author of Healthcare by Design (University of Toronto Press, 2025) and Discovery Design (2018), has contributed to peer-reviewed work published in JAMA and Medical Care Research and Review, and holds two international PCT patents. She is based in Starnberg, Germany.
