HIMSS Las Vegas and Paris

Nordic Community and EHiN invite you to a Nordic gathering.

For many years, the HIMSS conferences have attracted numerous international participants looking to stay updated on technology in healthcare. Since the American non-profit organization was established in 1961, data and data sharing have been at its core.

HIMSS – short for Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society – organizes many events, but for us in the Nordics, the global conference in the US and the European version have been the most relevant.

HIMSS has long focused on the digital transformation the healthcare sector must undergo. Strong international networks can help by learning from others in similar positions and by sharing our own experiences so that other countries can benefit from them.

HIMSS includes several regional groups – for the Nordics, it is the Nordic Community. This group is active, discussing how the Nordic countries can collaborate better, learn from the rest of the world, and share our experiences to help others on their digital journeys.

The Nordic Community includes various profiles from across the Nordic countries, such as Malin Söderlund from ImagineCare, Bogi Eliasen from the Copenhagen Institute of Future Studies, Anders Tunold-Hansen from the Nordic Interoperability Project, Markus Kalliola from Sitra in Finland, and Maria Hassel from the Swedish eHealth Agency. The leader of the Nordic Community is Helle Sörensen, Project and Development Manager, Health and Social Care in Östersund Municipality.

No Gambling on Health

The HIMSS Global Conference 2025 will be held in Las Vegas from March 3–6. The conference will span three venues: The Venetian Convention & Expo Center, Caesars Forum, and Wynn Las Vegas.

HIMSS has faced criticism for hosting its conference in a location like Las Vegas, but in practice, few venues can accommodate the scale of the event. HIMSS Global attracts 35,000–40,000 attendees and over 1,000 exhibitors.

The Nordic Community is currently putting together a program for its participants, which will include networking opportunities in addition to the main conference. The program is still in progress and will be published at a later date.

In addition, EHiN/Nordic Community is organizing an evening event for Nordic attendees, as in previous years. This will take place on Tuesday evening, March 4 at 19:30 – 22:30 / 7:30pm – 10:30pm. The evening will be hosted at The Loft, Cabo Wabo Cantina Las Vegas, 3663 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109, USA.

HIMSS Europe, Paris

HIMSS Europe 2025 will take place in Paris from June 10–12. Here, too, the Nordic Community will organize a shared evening event, typically in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy. More information will follow.

The European version, much smaller with around 2,000 attendees, rotates annually to different locations in Europe. This year, Italy and Rome are hosting HIMSS Europe.

Why Attend HIMSS25?

HIMSS25 is one of the world’s largest and most influential conferences on healthcare technology, innovation, and digital transformation. For Nordic healthcare leaders, attending HIMSS25 provides a unique opportunity to gain insights, network with key global stakeholders, and bring back knowledge that can help accelerate healthcare digitalization in the region.

Key Reasons to Attend:

  • AI in Healthcare – The US leads in AI-driven healthcare solutions, with large-scale implementations in clinical decision support, workflow automation, and patient engagement. HIMSS25 offers real-world examples and best practices that can be adapted to the Nordic regulatory and ethical landscape.
  • Health Data & Interoperability – With EHDS (European Health Data Space) regulations evolving, learning from the US approach to health data sharing, interoperability, and ecosystem development will be valuable for Nordic strategies.
  • Policy & Market Trends – The changing US regulatory environment, especially regarding AI, cloud computing, and health IT innovation, will have implications for global collaboration. Understanding these shifts is crucial for Nordic healthcare stakeholders working with US-based tech providers.
  • EHR & Open Ecosystems – The Nordics are transitioning towards vendor-neutral, open healthcare platforms. The US experience in building modular and scalable health IT solutions provides insights into best practices for procurement, innovation, and integration.
  • Networking & Collaboration – HIMSS25 attracts 30,000+ attendees and 700+ exhibitors, including leading technology providers, policymakers, and healthcare executives. The Nordic Community Session (March 4, 15:00–17:00) is a great opportunity to connect with Nordic and global leaders.
