iHAC, an end of a new beginning

Key messages from Nordic iHAC-project 2021-2024

Four key messages will be presented:

– The time to act is now! (well, it was actually yesterday) – Integrating health and social care services is essential to safeguard the Nordic welfare model, with high-quality services and equal access for all. Embracing the opportunities of digitalisation is key to maintaining a high service level in rural areas and attracting and retaining qualified health and care professionals.

– Embrace the digital – Show visionary, collaborative leadership to integrate health and care – Developing integrated health and care services supported by digital and distance-spanning technology requires visionary and collaborative leadership at all levels of governance, clear and compelling political visions, and strong mandates to drive change.

– Network, come together and collaborate! – By applying iHAC’s complete strategic approach and process guides, it is indeed possible to develop integrated health and care services that meet the population’s changing needs. Innovative, distance-spanning and digitalised services have already been implemented all across the Nordic Region

– Integrated health and care, supported by distance-spanning solutions, delivers to the global agendas! – Integrating health and care services benefits citizens, health and care professionals and organisations, municipalities, regions, and society. New digital service models deliver on several Nordic and global political agendas, including climate change, and are critical for overcoming skills gaps and capacity shortages in health and care.

– The project Integrated healthcare and care through distance spanning solutions (iHAC «‌»)) was carried out between 2021-2024 as part of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ action plan towards Vision 2030 – that the Nordic region will become the world’s most integrated and sustainable region. This session focuses on ecosystems and model regions for the successful implementation of integrated health and care services with the support of e-health and welfare technology, as well as a presentation of the results from some of the 19 regional projects that have been implemented in all Nordic countries and the Baltics. The project has been carried out in collaboration between the Center for Rural Medical Storuman, Västerbotten and the Nordic Welfare Centre.
