Estonia is considered as a leader in e-health innovation and a pioneer in utilising technology to enhance healthcare delivery and ensure efficient, patient-centered services. We are increasingly focusing on people-centered healthcare – advancing personalised medicine solutions, prevention and proactive life event-based services. To empower the main data providers – patients, healthcare providers and health professionals – they need to have the proper tools and knowledge. The European Health Data Space will be a milestone to move towards a true single market for the digital health technologies and make better use of available data. Collaboration and exchanging best practices in those areas is essential.

Estonian companies are here looking to build partnerships with Norway’s industry and public sector. Why is Norway an important country for Estionia?
Norway holds significant importance for Estonia as a critical trade partner, standing as Estonia’s seventh-largest export market in 2023, with exports worth €630 million. Norway’s commitment to advancing e-health infrastructure and digital health services aligns closely with Estonia’s technological expertise in this sector, opening substantial collaborative opportunities. Ageing population and high healthcare standards have led the governments to invest billions into e-health solutions and medical technology, making it a strategic market for Estonian companies. Through partnerships within Norway’s healthcare sector, Estonia aims to support its companies in accessing and contributing to this growing market, thereby enhancing trade and innovation in both countries.

What are Estonia’s goals for the EHiN conference?
Estonian participants at EHiN hope to build lasting partnerships within Norway’s public and private healthcare sectors. We look forward to exchanging best practices on how to most effectively support innovation in the era of regulations, create patient-centered services, and enhance healthcare systems through health data exchange. They aim to showcase Estonia’s pioneering health technologies and digital health solutions, focusing on areas where Norway has outlined vital development needs, such as telemedicine, personalised healthcare, and hospital digitalisation. With Norway’s healthcare spending increasing and demand for modernised health solutions increasing, the EHiN conference is expected to serve as a valuable platform for Estonian companies to support collaborations and potentially secure contracts supporting Estonia’s export growth.
